Sally Pearson continuing comeback with sturdy performances in European competition

THE good news keeps returning for Australian athletics with Olympic champion Sally Pearson’s comeback continuedto point out encouraging signs.
While Nitro Athletics is taking off in Melbourne, the sport’s biggest star is in Germany resurrecting her career.
In the second race of her European indoor tour, Pearson finished third in the final of the 60m hurdles at the Istaf Indoor event in Berlin.
She clocked 7.91sec — the exact same time she registered last week in Karlsruhe wherever she finished third behind outside record holder Kendra Harrison.
German Cindy Roleder, a silver medallist at the 2015 world championships, claimed victory in seven.85sec from teammate Pamela Dutkiewicz (7.88sec).
Pearson, who is currently self-coached, is on the comeback trail once Achilles and hamstring issues forced her out of last year’s metropolis Olympiad.
The 30-year-old has endured a horror two years with a broken articulatio plana forcing her out of the 2015 world championships.
After shortly considering retirement, the 2011 world champion is now centered on returning to her best for next year’s Commonwealth Games in her town of the Gold Coast.
Pearson has two additional indoor races planned on this European journey, in Dublin and Birmingham over the next week.
Australia’s Olympic discus thrower Benn Harradine also competed in Berlin, finishing sixth with a best of throw of 59.84m.
